A little blurry, but….Opie?

Fishin’ Fools

I hope our nightmares of hooks stuck in heads/arms/legs don’t come true! You’ll have to ask Taya about that when she was little. Went fishing with her brother Ray, and got a hook stuck in his head. She didn’t quite connect the fact that every time she jerked on the line she heard “OW”.
My experiences with fishing are more what Ian has been having today. A lot of tangles, knots, and having to cut the line a whole lot. Austin is a natural, he can cast the practice lure about 30 feet with no problem, just about exactly where he wants it to go. Hannah… well….She’s very impressed that her fishing pole has a Barbie on it.
I’ll try and get some pix of fishing tomorrow. Ought to be interesting, as Taya is terrified of fish. If we actually catch something tomorrow Ian wants to keep it as a pet. Or eat it. He’s not sure.
Until next time…..

Not so little anymore

Not so little anymore
Originally uploaded by baldwinmk.

Wow, this pix is a little sad, but exciting at the same time. Went to the park after dinner last night, Little Matt wanted to be just like his big brother & sister and swing on the “big kid” swings. I put him up there and gave him a little push. He hung on just fine, and had a great time.
A little sad… kinda makes me realize again how fast they’re growing up. I can still remember the moment every one of them were born, how tiny they were, now all 4 of them are so big, so independant (most of the time). Well, maybe extremely nostalgic would be a better description; nostalgic for being able to hold them in the palm of my hand, have them fall asleep in my arms.
But at the same time exciting…. it’s amazing to watch them grow, change, their personalities develop. Ian is SO creative, artistic, and wants to tell you about everything. Austin, so sweet and caring, but SUCH a “boy” (worms, frogs, etc), a little shy, but I think once his speech is squared away the shyness will be gone. Hannah is going to be JUST like her Mommy – beautiful, sweet, but STUBBORN, and have a bit of a temper; slow to burn, but when it does LOOK OUT! Little Matt’s personality is still forming, but I think he’s gonna be the “class clown”, but he’s also TOO SMART for his own good. I think he’s picking up a lot from his siblings, but he learns so fast.
They’re all so smart and loving, and they so want to please their parents that sometimes it makes you wanna cry.
They’re all so different, but they’re all THE BEST kids a Daddy could ever ask for. I thank God for giving them to Taya and I. I really don’t feel I’m worthy of such a gift, but hey, I’ll take ’em!!
Nothing new in the way of selling the house, but we’re SO wanting it to sell. That’s one of the big steps in our project, which is still morphing, changing, taking shape. Kind of unsure about things now, a lot of feedback from people we’ve talked to around here has been a bit negative, or more discouraging, like “how on earth do you plan on doing that?”
We don’t have the answer to that, but it will come.
Thank you for your prayers and thoughts. We really want this to take hold, we feel it’s something important for us to do, and God willing it will happen. It’s important both for us, it’s something we were meant to do, and it’s SO important for the people that it will benefit.
Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers, so many of you are, and we SO appreciate it. We appreciate and love our family and friends more than we ever let on, but we really do! Thank you!

Until next time…..

"Princess" Hannah :-)

“Princess” Hannah
Originally uploaded by baldwinmk.

Couldn’t resist snapping this pix as Taya and I were doing our nightly routine of checking the kids, on our way off to bed last night. Hannah has started wearing her little Princess crown she got for Christmas(?) all the time, in fact when she got up this morning, it was still on. And she loves to sing the “Backyardigans” song – “I-Love-Being-a-Princess” over and over and over. Guess she’s got big plans to become part of a royal family?
Nothing much new here, I’m busy getting work moved, Taya’s knee is healing, kids are doing ok, considering all the upheaval in their life. They’re cool with the idea of us selling the house, but will miss playing with “Wobbee” (Robbie), their friend up the street, every Teusday. Hope to hear something about the house soon, is really hard waiting like this. Taya about killed herself getting it ready, and now we’re just kinda sitting around…….
Heard from Grampa Howe – he’s having a blast in Florida with my Aunt Gail, Uncle Tom, and Cousin Marina (who I haven’t seen in 7+ years!). Have talked to a few others lately, seems like everyone is doing pretty well. For those I haven’t heard from lately – hope things are good in your life.
Keep the prayers coming this way, and we’ll send some everyone else’s way!
Until next time…..

Not much to say……well, maybe a little.

Weekend was a bust. Waited around Saturday to help move some stuff, and those plans fell thru, so kind of a wasted day. Sunday was too cold to do much. We taught Hannah’s sunday school class, came home and didn’t really do much….. So much for great plans. No calls to look at the house yet, but we’re still hopeful. PLEASE keep us in your prayers – pray we get this place sold!!
At least the leaves are starting to come out full force, the remaining trees are hiding the “un-forest” a bit, so it’s not quite so bad. Until you drive down the driveway. Everyone keeps saying “it’ll look better when it greens up”, but we hope to not be here by the time that happens! I know the power of prayer works, let’s all work together on this one! Our “project” is evolving every day, is still a very wet lump of clay, being molded, changed, poked at. Not sure what exactly it’s gonna look like when we get it to a point where it looks like “something”, but like I say it’s still evolving…..
No pix today, but I’ll have some soon. Hope y’all are doing well.
Until next time…..

Aren’t I cute?

Little Biker Boy
Originally uploaded by baldwinmk.

Just got some photos from Grampa Howe that he took while he was here. This one just seemed so cute I had to share. Little Biker “dude” (as Hannah calls him – “wittle dood”) on his sister’s trike. Glad it’s friday, hope to do something fun this weekend, Taya’s been busting her butt (and knee) getting the house ready to show, let’s just hope we have someone to show it to!!!!
PLEASE keep those prayers/good thoughts coming our way. Pray for us to sell this place and quickly. That’ll be the first step, in a series of steps that need to happen for our “project” to fall into place. Email me if you’re curious about it 🙂 Be happy to share what sketchy details we have with you. Maybe you can be a part of it, who knows? A small part of our inspiration is here –
http://www.monkeyloveinc.com/ourstory.html
that’s just a small piece of it, there’s more that I’ll be happy to share via email one on one…. still just an infant idea that Taya and I want to take and grow into something big.
Anyway – take care, and thanks for rooting for us, thanks for the prayers, good thoughts, etc. – things are starting to turn around, and look much brighter!
PS – got some sad news today – a longtime friend of the family, Dick Gaylord, who was a HUGE help to my Grandmother (Mom’s mom) over the years and has lung cancer, is not doing well. Please keep him an his family in your thoughts & prayers as well. They’ve been great to the family over the years.
Thanks again, until next time…….

Not sure if I like that glint

You have a new Picture Mail

The look Little Matt gets on his face when he’s “painting” the floors scares me a bit, makes me VERY careful to put all the paints well out of his reach. Taya finished the majority of the painting all by herself – even with her bum knee. That girl never ceases to amaze me. Even after falling down the steps while carrying Hannah, sacrificing her already bad knee to make sure Hannah didn’t crack her head on the sidewalk, the next day she starts in on painting the twins room. I wish I had her gumption! I’m SOOOOO glad she’s on my team! 🙂
She’s recovering, although still limping pretty good (yes, honey I notice the limp!)
Well, we now have a suitably marketable “generic” paint scheme in our house. Gone are the custom stencils that Taya did 4 years ago. Nothing but shades of yellow, tan and blue. Boring, but according to the realtor that’s what you gotta do “so people can imagine their stuff in the house”. Ok… But I hope someone comes and at least looks at it soon, the boring scheme is, well, boring.
Sun is still shining, leaves are coming out in full force. Spring is here at last! Been 70’s and low 80’s most of the week. I love it!!! Can’t wait for 90! Then I can dig out my shorts. Gonna take the kids fishing this weekend; something they’ve been wanting to do for a while. Ought to be interesting, especially sticking the worm on the hook. I can hear the kids now – “You’re hurting him”. Then if we actually catch anything – whoa!
I’ll send some pix of our adventures.
Take care, and until next time……
