Went into “the city” today. First time Taya or any of the kids have been to NYC. Rode the LIRR, but didn’t take any subways. Walked a bunch, saw Empire State building, ate lunch at a real NY deli, and about FROZE to death. Wind chill was -12!!!!!
We’ve all decided for sure we’re not city folk at all. Too crowded, nowhere for the animals to roam, and garden wouldn’t grow very well thru all the blacktop. But everyone’s been to NYC now; can cross that off the list. Let’s see there’s bungee jumping, parasailing, and…. hmm, looks like Little Matt’s list is a little extreme.

Until next time…..

What a long strange trip…….

HI!

Made it up to Long Island, somehow……
We altered our trip plans a bit, decided to take I-95 instead of I-81. Turns out we still got stuck…….
We had planned on making it to Hagerstown, MD Saturday night, and heading up to Strasburg, PA for a steam train ride. We ended up getting caught around Fredericksburg, VA; parked for about 2 hours. The plows couldn’t get thru and I95 turned into a mess. We went 5 more miles on road that was like greased corrugated metal. It was too dangerous, so we pulled off at a gas station. Ended up spending the night in the gas station parking lot, along with 40 or 50 other cars. Was a cold night, but we were safe. We DID make it to Strasburg for our train ride though. Had a blast, and made it on to Long Island last night. Was quite an adventure; but we made it safely. Hope everyone else made it to their destinations without as much excitement.

Until next time……

White Friday

But apparently there are a LOT of people out there that are….
We had a NC “blizzard” today – so far an inch of snow on top of some greasy slush/sleet. Driving home on the interstate this afternoon, the big yellow sign that flashes various warnings, alerts etc displayed the following brilliant message
“SNOW ON ROAD”
ummmm….. no kidding.
Then when I was almost home I noticed a couple cars off on the side of the road, so I stopped to see if anyone needed help. When I checked to see what was wrong, the driver said
“I think something’s wrong with my car. No matter how hard I step on the gas, my car won’t go anywhere”.
ummmm…..no kidding
I helped push them back on the road and get underway again, downhill this time; probably amazed how the car had been fixed.
In the spirit of Christmas, I won’t go on a long rant about people’s lack of thinking for themselves anymore, but just wait ’til after new year’s day – Look Out!! 🙂

Until Next Time…..

Global "Warming" in Copenhagen – HAH!

December 18, 2009 Leave a comment

The only warming in Denmark is from the hot air being spewed about global warming…

Blizzard Dumps Snow On Copenhagen As Leaders Battle Global Warming
World leaders flying into Copenhagen today to discuss a solution to global warming will first face freezing weather as a blizzard dumped 10 centimeters (4 inches) of snow on the Danish capital overnight.
“Temperatures will stay low at least the next three days,” Henning Gisseloe, an official at Denmark’s Meteorological Institute, said today by telephone, forecasting more snow in coming days. “There’s a good chance of a white Christmas.”
Delegates from 193 countries have been in Copenhagen since Dec. 7 to discuss how to fund global greenhouse gas emission cuts. U.S. President Barack Obama will arrive before the summit is scheduled to end tomorrow.
Denmark has a maritime climate and milder winters than its Scandinavian neighbors. It hasn’t had a white Christmas for 14 years, under the DMI’s definition, and only had seven last century. Temperatures today fell as low as minus 4 Celsius (25 Fahrenheit).
DMI defines a white Christmas as 90 percent of the country being covered by at least 2 centimeters of snow on the afternoon of Dec. 24.

War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery……

From Obeyme’s nobel “peace” prize speech http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/11/world/europe/11prexy.text.htm?_r=1&pagewanted=2
“We must begin by acknowledging the hard truth: We will not eradicate violent conflict in our lifetimes. There will be times when nations — acting individually or in concert — will find the use of force not only necessary but morally justified.”

So….. in our lifetimes we have a never-ending war to look forward to, in the name of peace?

Anyone read 1984?

Recessio-…. Wait, I thought that was over?????

December 8, 2009 1 comment

9/16/2008 – Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said Tuesday that the recession was “very likely over”
12/8/2009 – Obama said the U.S. must continue to “spend our way out of this recession” as long as so many people are out of work.

I’m SOOOOO confused. The government official in charge of the nation’s finances told me the recession ended in the 3rd quarter of 2009. Why wasn’t the President notified?
He can’t be referring to a new recession yet, because we need 2 consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth, and he couldn’t possibly know what the 4th quarter 2009 period or the 1st quarter 2010 quarter will reveal could he?

Until next time…..
